DVH Tennis - NIeuwsbrief nummer 17 🙌

Beste leden,

Het tennisseizoen is alweer in volle gang. De voorjaarscompetitie is afgerond, de eerste toernooien zijn succesvol gespeeld en de tennistrainingen lopen langzaam richting de zomerstop. Gelukkig hebben we nog volop mooie activiteiten en toernooien in het vooruitzicht.

We willen graag even stilstaan bij wat er de afgelopen weken allemaal is gebeurd op ons park. Met veel trots en dankbaarheid kijken we terug op een prachtige editie van ons jaarlijkse Open Toernooi én het Veteranentoernooi, waarbij we meer dan 400 deelnemers mochten ontvangen. Een week vol sportieve prestaties, gezelligheid en betrokkenheid – zoals we dat bij DVH graag zien.

Voor het eerst stond het Open Toernooi dit jaar onder leiding van Chiel Uljee. Hij had zichzelf ten doel gesteld een al succesvol toernooi nóg succesvoller te maken – en daarin is hij zonder twijfel geslaagd. Met grote  energie, frisse ideeën en oog voor detail heeft hij de organisatie op zich genomen. Niet alleen was alles tot in de puntjes geregeld, ook de sfeer op het park kreeg volop aandacht: van de aankleding tot de ontvangst van spelers en bezoekers. Dankzij zijn inzet en betrokkenheid kunnen we terugblikken op een fantastisch debuut als Toernooidirecteur.

Daarnaast willen we ook Guusje Taylor Parkins bedanken, die natuurlijk al jaren met haar team het Veteranentoernooi organiseert. Met haar ervaring, zorgvuldigheid en gastvrije aanpak heeft zij wederom gezorgd voor een uitstekend verlopen toernooi binnen deze mooie toernooiweek. Het is bijzonder waardevol om zulke vaste krachten binnen onze club te hebben.

Ondanks dat het weer ons aan het eind van de week wat in de steek liet – waardoor we last-minute naar binnen moesten uitwijken – overheerst bij iedereen het gevoel dat het een enorm geslaagde week was. Een evenement dat wederom laat zien wat we als vereniging samen kunnen neerzetten.

Onze grote dank gaat uit naar alle vrijwilligers: achter de bar, in de keuken, bij de wedstrijdleiding, en natuurlijk ook alle deelnemers. Zonder jullie inzet en enthousiasme was dit niet mogelijk geweest. Het organiseren van dit soort evenementen blijft een flinke klus, maar met elkaar lukt het ons steeds weer – en daar mogen we als vereniging trots op zijn.

We blijven altijd op zoek naar mensen die het leuk vinden om een handje te helpen, of het nu tijdens een toernooi is of bij een andere activiteit. Vind je het leuk om mee te doen of mee te denken? Laat het vooral weten – alle hulp is welkom!

Dear members,

The tennis season is in full swing. The spring competition has wrapped up, the first tournaments have been played successfully, and the tennis training sessions are gradually heading toward the summer break. Fortunately, we still have many exciting events and tournaments to look forward to.

We’d like to take a moment to reflect on what has happened at our club over the past few weeks. With great pride and gratitude, we look back on a wonderful edition of our annual Open Tournament and the Veterans Tournament, where we welcomed more than 400 participants. A week full of sporting achievements, camaraderie, and engagement – just how we like it at DVH.

For the first time, this year’s Open Tournament was led by Chiel Uljee. He set out to make an already successful tournament even more successful – and without a doubt, he succeeded. With incredible energy, fresh ideas, and attention to detail, he took on the organization. Everything was meticulously arranged, and the atmosphere on the grounds was given plenty of attention – from the decorations to the warm welcome of players and visitors. Thanks to his commitment, we can look back on a fantastic debut as Tournament Director.

We’d also like to thank Guusje Taylor Parkins, who for many years has been organizing the Veterans Tournament with her team. With her experience, care, and hospitable approach, she once again ensured a smoothly run tournament during this wonderful tournament week. It’s incredibly valuable to have such dedicated members within our club.

Although the weather let us down a bit at the end of the week – forcing us to move indoors at the last minute – the prevailing feeling was that it had been an incredibly successful week. An event that once again shows what we can achieve together as a club.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the volunteers: behind the bar, in the kitchen, in match coordination – and of course to all the participants. Without your commitment and enthusiasm, this would not have been possible. Organizing events like this is a big task, but together we make it happen – and that’s something we as a club can be proud of.

We are always looking for people who would like to lend a hand – whether during a tournament or other activity. Interested in helping out or thinking along? Let us know – all help is welcome!
